Buyer's guide

How to choose a headliner repair shop

A short, practical guide to comparing shops — the questions that matter, the warning signs, and how to get quotes without the runaround.

The short answer: pick a shop by method and material, not just price: confirm they re-cover the board with foam-backed fabric (not a spray re-glue), that they handle your vehicle and any sunroof, and that the work carries a warranty. Compare two or three quotes.

Questions worth asking

  • Do you re-cover the existing board or replace it? What material do you use?
  • Is the fabric foam-backed and matched to my vehicle?
  • Do you handle sunroof and pillar-trim work safely?
  • What’s the workmanship warranty, and the expected turnaround?
  • Do you offer mobile service, or is this in-shop only?

Warning signs

  • A quote that only mentions “re-gluing” for a fully sagging liner.
  • No willingness to explain material or method.
  • Pressure to book before seeing photos or the vehicle.
  • No warranty of any kind on the work.

Why photos help

Clear photos — the whole liner, the worst area, and any sunroof — let a shop quote accurately and spot leak-related damage early. A shop with a photo gallery of past work also tells you what to expect.

Common questions

What should I ask a headliner shop before booking?
Ask whether they re-cover the existing board or replace it, what material they use and whether it's foam-backed, whether they handle your vehicle type and any sunroof, what the workmanship warranty is, and the expected turnaround.
Is the cheapest quote usually the best?
Not always. A very low quote may mean a spray re-glue that fails again once the foam has broken down. Compare what's actually included — a proper board re-cover with quality material lasts far longer than a quick re-stick.
How many shops should I compare?
Two or three is usually enough to understand the price range and approach. Our quote request shares your details with up to 5 nearby shops so you can compare without contacting each one.
